biomex.studio is a free, browser-based suite of biomechanics and sports science analysis tools. Everything runs locally in your browser — no data leaves your device, no account is required, and there is no cost to use any tool.

biomex.studio does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Your video stays on your device. All video files are loaded and processed entirely within your web browser. No video data is uploaded to any server at any time. When you close the tab, the video is gone.
Annotations and session data stay on your device. All markers, measurements, tracking data, and session metadata exist only in your browser's memory while you use the tool. When you export a session JSON or CSV file, that file is saved directly to your computer - it is not sent to any server.
No cookies or tracking. biomex.studio does not set any cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not use any advertising or behavioural tracking. We use GoatCounter for basic, privacy-friendly page view counts only - it collects no personal data, sets no cookies, and is fully GDPR compliant.
External resources. The page loads fonts from Google Fonts, the Chart.js library from cdnjs.com, and the EmailJS SDK (used only if you submit a bug report). These services may log standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent) under their own privacy policies. No data is shared with these services by biomex.studio itself.
Bug reports. If you choose to submit a report via the "Report Issue" button, the description you type, your email (if provided), and basic browser information are sent via EmailJS to the developer. This is the only data that leaves your browser, and only when you explicitly click "Send Report".
Load from URL. If you load a video via URL, your browser fetches the video directly from that server. biomex.studio does not proxy, cache, or log the URL. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access the video at that URL.
Free to use. biomex.studio is provided free of charge for personal, educational, research, and commercial use.
No warranty. The tool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Measurement accuracy depends on video quality, calibration, and user technique. You are responsible for validating results for any critical application.
Your content. You retain all rights to your video files, annotations, and exported data. biomex.studio makes no claim to any content you create or analyse.
Video permissions. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to use any video you load into the tool. This includes videos loaded from URLs. Do not analyse video of individuals without appropriate consent.
Attribution. If you use biomex.studio in published research or public-facing work, attribution is appreciated but not required. Suggested citation: "Motion analysis performed using biomex.studio".
Availability. The service may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice. Session JSON files exported from the tool will remain valid regardless of any changes to the live service.

Calibrate real-world measurements

Paste a direct link to an MP4 file. Google Drive share links are auto-converted. The video must be publicly accessible.
A short guide to your first motion analysis session. Estimated time: under 5 minutes.
Click Choose Video File in the centre of the player, or use the 📁 Video button in the controls bar. MP4 and MOV work reliably across all browsers. AVI and WMV require conversion first.
Select the Line tool (L) and draw a line across a reference of known length in the frame — a measuring rod, court marking, or calibration board. Right-click the line and choose Use for calibration, then enter the real-world length. Open the Calibration tab, confirm your camera's frame rate, and click Apply Calibration.
Select the Marker tool (M) and click on each anatomical landmark of interest — joint centres, segment endpoints, or tracking targets. Markers are labelled automatically (P1, P2…). Rename them in the Properties tab by selecting a marker.
Select a marker (click it with the Select tool, or use the Annotations list), then in the Properties tab click ⟳ Tracking Off to enable automatic tracking. Repeat for each marker. Tracking uses centroid detection by default — best suited to bright reflective markers on a dark background.
If tracking drifts during playback, pause, switch to the Select tool (V), drag the marker back to the correct position, then click ↺ Refresh in Properties and resume.
Press Space to play. Use ← → to step frame by frame, or Shift + ← → to step ±10 frames. When a marker has been tracked across enough frames, click 📈 in the Properties tab to open the kinematics chart showing position, velocity, and acceleration over time.
Use Export → CSV for kinematics data (position, velocity, acceleration per frame). Use Export → Session JSON to save the full session — annotations, calibration, and metadata — so you can reload it and continue later.
A segment links two markers and tracks the length and angle between them over time. Both markers must be placed first.
